6 – Let’s talk about IVF

I’m going to fast forward to February 15, 2015. At this point I was well into my first IVF cycle. The IVF process for me included Stimulation, Egg Retrieval, Egg Fertilization, Embryo Transfer+Bed Rest, Progestorone Shots. One to three doctor visits a week so I was monitored quite frequently.

After my fertility doctor recommended IVF, I was given a schedule to work with. It’s not supposed to be a perfect schedule because everyone responds differently to the medication. My stimulation schedule was adjusted as my body responded to the medications I was given. Some of the medication I was prescribed had to be injected in my belly.

The video linked below (from Feb 15, 2015) is quite long and unedited but shows Day 6 of the stimulation process. I debated whether to show this because it is such a private video. Then I remembered how the videos other women posted also encouraged me. They didn’t scare me, they made me feel like if they could do it, I can do it too. Also, you will be able to tell from the video that I am not a medical professional, I probably didn’t do everything perfectly but I was just trying my best to keep it together. So here we go, take a seat and absorb the process.

I also want to say that if only I had this picture in front of me the entire time, I would have been more brave. So I pray this prayer for all of us, that we have enough hope in God’s promise to hold on through the journey. I pray that we are able to focus on that vision and hang on tight. Everything that happens in between might not make much sense and you might never understand the why behind each hurdle and you might not understand why there is yet another lesson to be learned. Just hang in there.
